In collaboration with the Women’s Support Center for Psychological and Legal Counseling in Nablus, a day focused on self-care and capacity building for released female prisoners was organized. The session targeted a number of recently released female prisoners and their families, where they expressed the significance of this event, which comes in response to a crucial and necessary need, especially in light of the circumstances the female prisoners have gone through, particularly in the recent days. The participants emphasized that the scale of violations within the prisons is beyond imagination, ranging from deprivation of food and medicine to psychological pressures and the denial of basic life and humanitarian needs. They pointed out that such meetings can help alleviate these hardships, which have been traumatic for many of the released prisoners and will be evident after their release, potentially requiring days and additional meetings to overcome the effects.

Trainer and expert Nasser Matar, Director of the Nafas Empowerment Center, confirmed that the meeting came at an appropriate time, emphasizing its importance due to the institution’s interest in staying in tune with the latest developments on the Palestinian scene. Mr. Nasser Matar added that the meeting would include further sessions and activities, with individual and group follow-ups with the released female prisoners. He also mentioned that the training covered various topics, such as activities for self-expression, expressing oneself through pictures, dealing with psychological pressure, trauma, how to cope, and readjust.

In conclusion, the Women’s Support Center confirmed that it is working on collective and individual follow-up programs for the released female prisoners and their families to enhance their communication and social and humanitarian adaptation.
