The European Solidarity Corps (ESC)
The European Solidarity Corps aims to foster solidarity in society, engaging young people and organizations in accessible and high-quality solidarity activities. It offers young people volunteering activities, traineeships or jobs, or run their own projects.
These opportunities give young people the chance to show solidarity and commitment to different communities and help resolve challenging situations across Europe and neighboring regions. Through the experience, they will also develop their skills and gain invaluable personal experience.

Individual volunteering is a full-time unpaid solidarity activity for duration from 2 to 12 months. In some cases, volunteering activities of 2 weeks to 2 months can be put in place for young people with fewer opportunities. This type of solidarity activity will give young people the chance to take part in the daily work of organizations and perform tasks that can have a real impact. Activities can take place either in a country other than the country of residence of the participant (cross-border) or in the country of residence of the participant (in-country).
Volunteering teams are solidarity activities allowing teams of 10 to 40 European Solidarity Corps participants from at least two different countries to volunteer together for a period between 2 weeks and 2 months. Such solidarity activities could especially contribute to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities in the European Solidarity Corps.
Participants are covered by complementary insurance and they can access a range of support services such as online linguistic support and training. Their travel costs from home to the venue of the project and back will be covered, as well as their accommodation and food. Participants will also receive a small allowance for their personal expenses.
Organizations which receive a Solidarity Corps grant will be responsible for the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the solidarity activities. They will manage the logistical aspects of their project, provide volunteers with training and/or mentoring and help them recognize their learning experience through Youthpass or similar tools. Organizations are also responsible for issuing the European Solidarity Corps certificate of participation to all their project participants.
